Hip and Knee Strength Classes

Offloading, strengthening or rehabilitating

Whatever your goal is, MVP’s Hip and Knee Strength Classes will help build lower body strength to keep you moving.

You can’t have one without the other

Strengthening goes past just the area of pain - improving strength of the joints above and below will give you the best improvements sooner. The leading evidence for the majority of hip and knee conditions will better respond to a combined approach rather than hip-only or knee-only strengthening.

How will the program help me?

Anyone with pain in either their hip or knee can benefit from our strength classes, as every person attending will have their own individualised program.

MVP’s Hip and Knee Strength Classes follows the latest evidence to support management of many conditions, such as:

  • Hip and knee osteoarthritis

  • Hip bursitis

  • ACL reconstruction - both conservative and surgical rehabilitation

  • Meniscal injuries

  • Sciatica and sciatic-like pain

  • Hip and knee ligament strains

  • Patellofemoral (kneecap) pain

  • Pelvic girdle pain

Classes are run by our experienced physiotherapists, who are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to hip and knee rehabilitation. They will be able to give you evidenced-based advice for your condition, as well as management strategies that are specific to your own recovery.

How do I Join a Hip and Knee Strength Class?

Initial assessment

To get the most out of your sessions, we start with booking an initial assessment with an MVP Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist. This is so we can diagnose your hip or knee pain, assess your current fitness level, check your medical history as well as screen for any other injuries or pre-existing conditions.

From here, your we will develop you tailored program, making sure to pick a combination of exercises that are challenging but comfortable to complete. If this is your first time doing dedicated exercises for these areas, our team can work with you one-on-one prior to starting classes to make sure you are able to complete each exercise safely and with correct technique. It is common to experience some mild discomfort when exercising for injury rehab, however our physiotherapists will guide you every step of the way.

Flexible training times and locations

Our classes are run by expert MVP Physiotherapists in our premium, bespoke physical performance and rehabilitation gym.

At MVP, we offer Hip and Knee Strength classes across both of our Hope Island and Paradise Point clinic locations. Each class is kept to a small-group training size (capped at 5-6 participants), so that your physiotherapist can check in with each member of the class.

We also believe in the importance of education throughout the sessions to improve your knowledge of how each exercise will help to improve your condition and function.

We encourage participants to attend twice weekly for best results. However, if this is not possible for you, once per week is adequate.
