Type 2 Diabetes Exercise Program

Manage your condition and feel great

Join our powerful 8-week exercise program prescribed by MVP Exercise Physiologists.

Understanding Type 2 Diabetes

Everybody benefits from exercise, but it is especially important if you have Type 2 Diabetes that you participate in regular exercise to keep you healthy. Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, affecting over 1 million Australians.

Despite its prevalence, Type 2 Diabetes has a wide variety of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Statistics show that 53% of diabetes diagnoses are attributed to being overweight or obese. So, maintaining a healthy weight through appropriate nutrition and exercise can go a long way in reducing your risk.

Currently, there is no known cure for Type 2 Diabetes. However, a well-designed exercise plan alongside good nutrition can help you effectively manage your condition.

How can I join the Type 2 Diabetes Exercise Program?

Initial assessment

To get the most out of your sessions, we start with booking an initial assessment with an MVP Exercise Physiologist. This is so we can understand your priorities, assess your current exercise tolerance, check your medical history as well as screen for any current injuries or conditions. From here, your Exercise Physiologist will develop a tailored program to target the key areas to improve your function and performance.

Flexible training times

Our classes are run by expert MVP Exercise Physiologists in our premium, bespoke physical performance and rehabilitation gym.

At MVP, each class is kept to a small-group training size, so that our exercise physiologists can check in with everyone attending. Classes run multiple times across the week at both our Hope Island and Paradise Point clinics.

We also believe in the importance of education throughout the sessions to improve your knowledge of how exercise helps to improve your health.

We encourage participants to attend twice weekly for best results. However, if this is not possible for you, once per week is adequate.

What is the cost of the program?

Please have your GP fill out a Type 2 Diabetes program referral form to have your initial assessment and group sessions partially covered by Medicare.

If you are ineligible for Medicare funding, you can still participate in the program. For fees, please contact our team (see below). If you have private health cover for Exercise Physiology, you will be able to claim a portion of the session fee on your health fund.
